Also

Bridge changes
-
Make new scratchplates/pickguards and truss-rod covers

General and deep cleaning
Some other things:
-
Transistor amplifier maintenance and minor faults such as crackly pots, leaking capacitors, broken jack-sockets, etc. Some other problems I can deal with but, if not (such as biasing and major valve amp faults), I can arrange for these to be done via a very capable qualified engineer that I know. However, please note that a lot of modern equipment (amplifiers, effects, rack gear, etc.) often employs surface mounted circuit boards, and these elements are generally next to impossible to repair
-
Interior cleaning of fan-cooled amps. Over time these can collect huge amounts of dust, which clogs up the fans and heatsinks leading to overheating and premature failure
-
Fit new speakers to cabinets
-
Amp, cabinet and guitar/bass case tolex (vinyl covering) minor refurbs and repairs (I don't usually replace material and will just repair what's already there). Note that when I refurb a cab I generally leave the back panel (if it has one) untouched as this leaves an impression of the age and history of the cab, but I will fix any obvious problems like loose tolex hanging down, loose jack-sockets, etc. However if you want the back done too then I will do it
-
Cymbal edge-crack repairs
-
Re-grille cabinets
-
Instrument case repairs
-
Replace logos (where available)
-
General lead and cable repairs
-
Effects pedal repairs (unless it is a non-obvious PCB-related fault... but I know someone who may be able to help, provided that the PCB is through-mounted and not surface-mounted)
-
Replace/add speaker and lead connectors (XLR/Speakon/¼" Jack, etc.)
-
Remove dents from SM58 type microphone grilles (depending on where the dents are, whether the ball grille can be removed, and how bad the damage is)
-
Mic repairs
Things I generally don’t do...
-
Straighten twisted necks (this is a job for a luthier, not a tech)
-
Re-frets
-
Resprays
-
Repair digital equipment, unless it is a known physical fault (e.g. faulty input/output/power sockets)
